Paul has left us all way too soon. I am truly saddened by his parting. Paul and I met some forty year ago at a Sennheiser dealer/distributor meeting in Germany. We both worked in sales for a local distributor with some shared brands like Sennheiser and Rycote. We hit it off from that first meeting. We had similar technical background and shared the passion for sales and marketing and Audio of course. Later I discovered that we also shared a passion for Formula 1 racing, live music and the finer things in life such as premium Italian red wines. Who could forget taking part in the first ever Sennheiser Pro training at an local Inn “ Alten Sölner hous” on the topic of wireless maybe in 1982 with good people like Dave Hughes and Bruno Lunati from Italy. I thing we all gave the Sennheiser Management a hard time but sales exported after this training. Our careers followed a similar path in sales and marketing and later in Management. Paul took a major step starting Sennheiser UK advancing to General Manager, I to CEO for the local distributor. Funny enough that Paul started as a friend, then colleague then boss but always a friend. Finally I joined Sennheiser as Managing director with Paul as driver of the new subsidiary Sennheiser Nordic in 2005 to build up the Nordic marked in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland adding later on the three Baltic countries to the mix. Paul was then President Global Sales and member of the executive board. Paul was always passionate, always driving me and my team hard but with the care of us all that we had fun as well. Never a dull moment when Paul came visiting. You were never in doubt if Paul did not agree with the progress or if sales and cost were not in line with the budget. Work hard; play hard was his mantra. Though Paul was tuff he was always fair and supportive. Problems had to be fixed that being logistic or staff related. If you had a valid argument he would always listen and agree if it made sense even though it was not his idea. I had a great respect for Paul all these years that said as friend or colleagues. Who can forget Paul’s love for singing? It would be an understatement to say that Paul’s contribution to the Brand Sennheiser was significant. Paul’s marked insight and business savvy made me and my team better professionals. Working with Paul made it possible to meet and work with a lot a great and fun people at Sennheiser UK. Coming to the UK for business meeting or local exhibitions I was always welcomed in the team. I send my thanks to old and current member of the UK team. “Paul we always had fun no matter the situation, you will be sorely missed.” My wife Anna Marie and I send our warmest thoughts to Sue and family. Rest easy my friend; I will see you on the other side Steen
